Christmas Social and Charity Auction

This year we again held our Christmas Social in the Ditton Bowls Club  Clubhouse and we would like to thank them for allowing us to use their facility.
Instead of a raffle , we decided to hold a charity auction with half the money raised to be split between several local charities and the other half to pay for the hire of the room and various expenses in running the evening.
We asked members to bring anything that they wanted to sell and we were not disappointed with the result. We had bottles of wine and vegetables, some books and DVD,s, a picture and numerous other items.
We started the evening with a couple of games of stand up sit down bingo, just to get everyone warmed up and then followed with the auction.The Auction was split into two parts, with a break in between for the buffet. This year we had masses of food and our thanks to everyone for their contributions. The auction raised over £100 pounds and we decided to send £40 to the Heart of Kent Hospice, and £12 each to Kent Air Ambulance and Cancer Research.
After the auction the evening finished off with a couple of quizzes with the usual chocolate bar prizes to the winners.
Everyone enjoyed the evening and were very generous with their bids and we will certainly look to doing an auction again next year.
